There has been a great deal of focus on North and South Korea recently—the North’s missile tests, their involvement in the Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games, bilateral talks/meeting with South Korea, and the unprecedented meeting of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, and NK's leader Kim Jeong Eun. Despite the headline news there are the citizens, us as individuals, who make up this country. South Korea has amazing and resilient people who have overcome many obstacles along the way. How can we pray for South Korea in this time?
Please pray: - For the political leaders to seek Your wisdom and counsel in all their actions on behalf of this country and in their personal and private lives. - For the Church to be open and on God's agenda - For all of South Korea to fear the Lord. Let all the inhabitants of this great Dominion stand in awe of Him. Because the Jino people have never had a written script, their history is uncertain. Marriages between siblings were common in the past. Today, marriages between cousins are still permitted in some villages. The Jino also allow courtship and premarital sex, attaching no shame to illegitimate children. Jino customs include piercing and decorating their earlobes, teeth painting, and wearing pointed bonnets. They are animists, and also worship Kong Mine, a Chinese war hero who lived in the 2nd century AD.
Please Pray : -There are a handful of Christian believers among the Jino. Pray they will be properly instructed in the faith, and will grow to become mature believers. Pray they will be salt and light to their own people. - There is no written script available in their language, so pray that they could have available Scripture in written form. On the last Saturday of each month, the servants and leaders will gather together for training
and prayer for Crossway. We encourage all ministry and life group leaders and those who serve to come join us in a time of prayer on July 28th at 10:30AM in room A2 across from the main worship room. If it is your first time attending CMC, or you're fairly new, let us take you to lunch! We'd love to get
to know you better and give you the opportunity to find out more about CMC! Members from the Welcoming Team will be in the back of the main hall to greet and guide you. For the past several years, the church in Nepal has been growing at a significant rate. Christians have shown the love of Christ by caring for orphans, fighting human trafficking, and providing necessary job training. However, there is an opposition brewing through Hindu nationalism in India, which has spread into Nepal. It has brought with it a push for anti-conversion legislation, and threats against Christians. The aftermath of the mounting pressure includes death threats against church leaders, the destruction of churches, and threats of endangerment to children of Christians at school. Christians are not intimidated however, saying, “We're not going to stop. No matter what the government does, it won't stop the work
of God, and we will continue to obey Christ's command to take the Gospel to the ends of the nations and the ends of the Earth!” Please pray - that these believers will not be fearful, but rather would stand firm in the power and love of God - that they may they continue conveying His love and peace to many others in Nepal's communities through their various humanitarian and evangelistic outreaches. |
